Lakers’ Luka Dončić Sees Second Technical of Season Rescinded by NBA

The technical foul assessed to Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic late in the second quarter of Monday’s 138-117 win over the Miami Heat has been rescinded, the NBA announced.

The league’s decision reduces Doncic’s season total from two technical fouls to one.

Doncic had not been whistled for a technical foul in his first four games this season. Monday’s tech was his second in his past three games before the league’s ruling.

“This season,” Doncic said on Oct. 21, “I’m trying to not get techs.”

Suspension threshold

A player receives an automatic one-game suspension and a $5,000 fine if whistled for 16 technical fouls during the regular season.

Doncic has reached that number in four of his eight seasons in the league. That includes last season with the Lakers, when he had to serve a one-game suspension during the team’s 120-101 victory over the Washington Wizards on March 30.
